Ogo Ekweozor-Holley, the founder and designer of OGONEWYORK, was born in Canada and lived in her home country of Nigeria for a few years, until she migrated with her family to the United Kingdom at the age of 11.
With a belief in the American dream , she relocated to New York City in 2010. OGONEWYORK was born in 2012.
Throughout her journey, she has witnessed many forms of inequalities, especially against women. This is the core essence of what motivates her to incorporate environmental and social impact into every step of the business operations, from inception to execution.
Out of Ogo's spiritual belief in that dogma, the True Beauty Org was brought forth as a community outreach extension of OGONEWYORK. An organization solely focused on culture empowerment for women to advance in life through entrepreneurship and career workshops. Seminars and activities, led by women for women in local communities throughout New York City. Every OGONEWYORK article of clothing, she makes and sells help support this platform to confront prejudices across the world.
Ogo’s social and business accomplishments has garnered the attention of leaders in the community. Her work has earned her multiple awards including the ‘Woman of distinction and economic empowerment’, awarded presented by the YWCA in 2017.
